Coffee snob

My husband just got even older. And he is, amongst other things, a coffee snob. Our coffee maker lives in a bag in the basement, reserved for big parties. In its place on the kitchen counter are a french press and an espresso pot.
I drink tea (we wont talk about that) and I think coffee smells really good, and tastes really gross. I don't drink it, and I don't know how to make it, especially not for a coffee snob. Enter Toby.
I decided to make a mocha cake for Scott's birthday. I needed espresso. So, Toby, my 4 year old, taught me how to make espresso, in Daddy's espresso pot, because he makes it for Daddy all the time.

Mocha buttercream icing and chocolate cake, with chocolate covered espresso beans, just for fun.
Blowing out the candles.

Also, like I said, I know nothing about coffee, but I know that when we went to Starbucks last weekend Scott got a Caramel Macchiato. I don't know what that is, but caramel sounds good. So I served the mocha cake with caramel sauce and "Affogato" (which I saw on a blog, and is a fancy Italian way of saying "vanilla ice cream with espresso poured on top")

Happy birthday Sca. Hope the caffeine wears off soon.
